       Since the tensile test is inconvenient to test and it is convenient to convert hardness to strength, people are increasingly testing only the hardness of storage tanks and less often their strength.        Most of the national standards for stainless steel carbon steel storage tanks stipulate both tensile testing and hardness testing. For those tanks where hardness testing is inconvenient, such as stainless steel pipes and wires, only tensile testing is specified.
